Homework 1

Homework 1: Due Monday September 8th.

Starting Materials:
1 good electric pencil sharpener
2 boxes of 24 black prisma color pencils (please only buy 2 pencils for now.)
2 pads of 18x24 newsprint (please buy only 1 pad for now.)
1 2 inch binder with a box of acrylic sleeves.
1 8x10 cheap spiral bound sketchbook.
1 box of push pins.

1 timer or stopwatch. (min 1 hour limit)
1 cheap clip light, or maglight.
Access to a digital camera.

Homework:

1. Buy Your Supplies. (North Campus Book store, Mich Book and Supply, Charrett, Dick Blick, Staples…)

2. I want you to draw 20 Pages in your 8x10 sketchbook.

I would like you to pick 4 different university buildings and sketch 5 pages of what you see. (i.e. people, objects, architecture, nature, animals, cars, etc… )

Spend a minimum of 20 - 30 minute a page with 4 separate sketches per page. (trust me, I can tell) This means this assignment should take you no more than 6 – 10 hours.

50% of the sketches must be done in black prisma color pencils.


Be sure to NUMBER every page as follows. HW 1, 1 (1/7/2009), as well as your signature. I will not count your work if either of this is missing.

Suggestion: Do not procrastinate on these assignments. They will require a lot of time to accomplish with quality.

BE SURE TO BRING SUPPLIES TO THE NEXT CLASS!!!!!!
